Highlights of Babahoyo, Ecuador
18/03/2026Last Sunday, March 1, we carried out the TLC walk in Almolonga, a town belonging to Naolinco, Veracruz, Mexico.
The activity began in Xalapa, from where we moved to visit this community and walk its streets with the intention of witnessing, living and documenting the Almolonga carnival, a celebration with more than 200 years of history in which the party, tradition, roots and pride of the community converge.
During the day we walked through different parts of the town while the carnival took shape in the streets: music, masks, dances and the active participation of residents and visitors were creating the perfect setting for the observation and photography exercise. Between the movement of the celebration and the closeness with the people, the camera became a tool to record the energy and cultural identity manifested in this festivity.
Throughout the tour we alternated between moments of slower observation to build the image and others of immediate reaction to the scenes that appeared in front of us. Gestures, characters, colors, traditions and spontaneous encounters were captured by those who participated in the walk.
Subsequently, the images were shared on social networks and, from them, 10 images were chosen along with 2 additional mentions that reflect different views on this celebration and on the daily life that is intertwined with the carnival in Almolonga.
Finally, we thank all the people who participated and trusted in the organization of this walk. Activities like this remind us that photography is also a way to approach traditions, understand the territory and document the stories that live in our communities.
