Gracias a todas las personas que nos acompañaron en la caminata fotográfica del pasado domingo 28 de mayo en Xalapa.
En esta ocasión recorrimos calles, tianguis y mercados de la zona norte de la ciudad, una de las entradas/salidas de este ciudad.
Entre puestos, comerciantes, vecinos, colores, sonidos y encuentros, dedicamos la mañana a observar y documentar espacios que forman parte del día a día de miles de personas, pero que pocas veces ocupan un lugar central en la representación de la ciudad.
Agradecemos a cada participante por sumarse a este recorrido, compartir su mirada y seguir construyendo comunidad a través de la fotografía. Nos alegra ver cómo cada caminata se convierte en una oportunidad para conocer mejor el territorio que habitamos y las historias que ocurren en él.

“Traveling Streets: postcards in transit” is an invitation to stop, look and turn a photograph into a correspondence. A physical image that will cross borders, will bear the marks of time, stamps, paths and handwritten words.

We do not seek perfection; we seek intention, memory and presence.

When night falls, some streets in Xalapa take on a new role. What is just another alleyway during the day becomes a gathering place for people who come for different reasons but end up sharing the same space for a few hours.
This series explores that nocturnal realm where conversations mingle with the music spilling out of bars, smoke drifts among the lights, and groups constantly form and disperse. There is no extraordinary event or specific celebration; just the daily routine of those for whom the night is part of their everyday life.
Amid graffiti-covered walls, wet pavement, and weathered facades, the "night creatures" emerge: anonymous figures who find in these corners a place to gather, wait, observe, or simply let time pass. A collective portrait of Xalapa’s nightlife, where the street remains a gathering place long after the city seems to have gone to sleep.

The move changed the location, but not the spirit of its later years. El Subma left behind the building it had occupied for decades to settle in another corner of Xalapa’s nightlife. A space that many already knew, but which has gradually taken on the atmosphere that made this bar famous: graffiti-covered walls, makeshift lighting, worn-out furniture, and a constant feeling that everything is about to spill over.
Just another night. People chatting, dancing, watching, waiting, or simply hanging out. The music, the colorful lights, and the closeness between strangers create scenes where the space’s makeshift nature seems irrelevant in the face of the shared experience. Here, it’s not the venue’s appearance that matters, but the people who bring it to life.
As a saying often repeated among its regulars goes, it remains a third-rate place with second-rate service for first-rate customers. A place that, despite the changes, continues to be part of Xalapa’s daily and nightlife.
